Are you wondering why adding a blog to your real estate website is so important? Well, I’m here to share 8 reasons why adding a blog to your real estate website will help you as can agent. Let’s get started.
Why blogging can help you soar as a real estate agent
1. Real estate expert – sharing helpful tips and providing value will help you establish yourself as the authority, especially with the local market. Answering FAQ and giving information about your local area will have people continue to frequent your site. You’ll stay top of mind as an experienced professional. Practical tips will bring people back.
2. Stay top of mind – from being a library of good real estate information and education, to having people continue to visit your website and from using SEO, you’ll work yourself to being on the first page of Google. Repeated exposure will help you stay top of mind. And staying top of mind drives more business your way.
3. Show that your tech savvy – you have an online presence and are knowledgeable about technology. You could even have one of your blog posts talk about the different ways you market to and reach clients in the social media world. That post could be a walking, talking, readable sales page of what you actually do to help your clients.
4. Personal connection with audience – use your blog posts to showcase your personality. Clients will be more prepared the first time they meet you because they’ll know what to expect and how you operate. Your blog will also work as a self-filtering system. People that don’t connect with you (and aren’t your avatar) will not take the next step to reach out to you. No worries, they’re probably not your ideal client anyway!

5. Convert web traffic into potential clients (or more leads) – blogging can be a fairly quick and effective marketing tool. When people are beginning to do their research, whether looking to sell or buy (or both!) they start by searching online. Some top questions like “how to buy a home you won’t regret” or “how to sell quickly and for top dollar”. Once a buyer or seller finds your website in their search, with valuable advice, you’ll become the one they trust. Use the know like and trust factor to your advantage.
6. Build brand awareness – brand awareness is important online and helpful for when you’re out in the community. When you have an open house, or someone sees your sign in the yard. When you call or send a postcard to FSBOs or Expired listings. If all ties together, brand awareness even helps when word of mouth referrals – how great would it be with others say “oh yeah, I’ve heard of [your name]. She really knows her stuff.”
7. It drives traffic to your website – having increased exposure will help you dominate your market. The helpful posts that you have will capture people’s attention as they surf the internet and then stumble across your website. The more you post to your blog, the greater your social media reach will become.
8. Differentiate yourself and solidify your brand – let’s face it, most agents don’t have a website. Or at least not a good one. Your typical agent will have the free website provided by their broker. You know, the site that’s basic, and has the ability for someone to search for listings in their market. It’s not agent specific, it’s very generic, and really, not very helpful. In fact, I think most buyers would just as easily use Zillow or Trulia to search for a home than to visit a generic agent page. But what WILL get people’s attention is a site that is branded for a specific agent. A site that has a bit of personality to it. One that allows you to showcase your personality and offer valuable real estate tips and insight.
